It’s mid-July and with highs of 30+ degrees, you might think it would be ridiculous to try and style black outfits. Black is not a colour typically associated with summer – it’s more of an autumn/winter thing. Summer months are for yellows, blues, greens… Actually pretty much any colour other than black!
But sue me, I’m a rule-breaker!
I love wearing black. I feel most confident in black. I am the definition of “I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour”. To me, it says class, simplicity and edge all at the same time. An LBD is a timeless staple in every woman’s wardrobe. There is just absolutely no way I am putting my black outfits on hold for 3 months. I would be so lost!
So, I have put together a few different outfits to show you how I personally have been/will be styling black outfits throughout the summer months. If you are like me and can’t live without the darkest colour ever to exist, then keep scrolling for some inspo!
A black denim skirt is such a staple wardrobe piece! It goes with everything, and is definitely suitable for sunny days. Paired with a silky leotard, and some lace up flatforms to elongate the legs.
A classic LBD. I love high necklines, which can be tricky to style in summer but I think the open arms and the mini dress leave just enough skin on show. Bold statement earrings dress the outfit up, and some studded heels add an edge. I felt very chic.
Playsuits are summer essentials – an entire outfit in one piece! And anything bardot is a yes from me when it’s hot outside.
Jumpsuits are another staple. This one can easily be dressed up with heels or down with sliders/trainers. It’s perfect for all occasions and the wide legs are both practical and on-trend.
Statement T-Shirts seem to be my go—to at the moment. And ripped jeans are always a winner. Sometimes it’s good to let your accessories do the talking!
(All of the above outfits are tagged on my 21 Buttons account, so you can shop them easily!)
I hope you have found some inspiration from my outfits! My message to you is, don’t be scared to wear black during the summer months – it is definitely workable when you find the right style to suit the weather! I don’t care what anyone says, black is always a winner. And I believe women who wear black lead the most colourful lives.
